ROGERS (KFSM) - The LPGA tournament begins Monday (June 21) with day one of practice for the professional women golfers, but the club didn't get ready for the big event overnight.
Tournament director Harry Hardy said they've been planning for the tournament for about nine months, and in the last six weeks crews have worked on building platforms, mowing and maintenance of the course.
"We have a team here full time working on this event and it all comes down to today it's the final day where we put on the finishing touches," Hardy said.
He said they expanded their Walmart Kids Center this year, adding a mini golf course and hitting nets for the kids. Hardy said they also did some major upgrades to how the fans can watch the golfers play.
"They've supported us for 9 years and we wanted to give back to them and give them those areas to watch golf, so we've added viewing decks all over the golf course, shade areas, air conditioned areas, put a real focus on viewing," Hardy said.
The course is closed Monday (June 22) to the public, but it will be open Tuesday-Thursday with free admission. A day pass for this weekend's tournament is $15 for adults, a weekend pass is $25. Kids are free with a paying adult.
Tournament play begins Friday (June 26).
