BOONEVILLE (KFSM) – A new Walmart Supercenter opened its doors in Booneville Wednesday morning (Mar. 10), with a grand opening ceremony at 7:30 a.m.
The new 103,000 square feet facility is located at 1400 East Main Street, and will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Store manager Galen Dahler has been with Walmart since 1989. He said he’s been anxiously awaiting the store’s grand opening.
“We first got the idea to open up a new store here several years ago,” Dahler said. “When we lost the Cargill plant, it all got put on hold. But over the last two years, we’ve really grown our sales and a lot of people here in Booneville were just relentless with the home office on getting this one built here, and it’s finally happened.”
An estimated 200 full and part-time associates will work at the new location, Dahler said.
“I think people are really going to enjoy coming in here to shop for everything they need,” Dahler said. “It looks very nice and we’re just ready for everyone to come in and see it for themselves.”
Dahler said the store is hosting a big family welcome party for the community Saturday (Mar. 14). There will be fun family activities and free food samples while supplies last. The celebration goes from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Everyone is invited to come out and take a look around the new store.
