BENTON COUNTY (KFSM) — The Benton County prosecutor announced Monday (Oct. 10) there will be no criminal charges filed against Glenn Latham, who is running as an Independent for Benton County sheriff.
Arkansas State Police had opened an investigation into Latham earlier this year and handed over the findings of their investigation to Prosecutor Nathan Smith, who spent several weeks looking over the evidence.
He determined there was no evidence that warranted filing criminal charges against Latham.
Latham is running for sheriff against Republican candidate Shawn Holloway.
Latham released the following statement in response to the prosecutor’s decision:
“Today the Benton County prosecutor concluded there will be no criminal charges in the unfounded allegation. I have waited patiently for the process to work, and although it took several weeks longer than hopes, the case is closed, unfounded. I look forward to continuing my campaign to change the Benton County Sheriff’s Office into an office with a positive reputation and a positive reflection of our community.”
