MUSKOGEE, Okla. — An escaped murder suspect from Oklahoma was arrested in Texas on Tuesday morning (Dec. 15) after stealing a semi truck.
Paul Newberry, 24, escaped with another inmate from the Muskogee County jail on Sunday night (Dec. 13), reported KOTV. Raymond Noriega, the other inmate, was hurt during the escape and was captured that night.
Newberry was taken into custody in Williams, Texas, which is southwest of Dallas, KOTV reported. Newberry allegedly stole a semi parked outside a Muskogee hotel Monday night.
After waking up Tuesday morning, the driver alerted police about his stolen vehicle, which they were able to track through a GPS device inside the semi, KOTV reported.
Police in Williams found Newberry dozing in the truck. KOTV reported that Newberry tried to drive away when he first spotted police, but eventually surrendered.
