Over 2,000 antique-lovers visited an outdoor antique show called Junk Ranch in Prairie Grove Friday and Saturday.
The Junk Ranch was open from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Owners Julie Speed and Amy Daniels said over 60 vendors from a five state area came in to sell their re-purposed junk and antiques to the locals of Prairie Grove. They said shoppers also were able to enjoy local bands and food vendors.
Kim Brown owns Rusted Brown in Bentonville and said her favorite part of junking is finding treasures.
"This is stuff that you probably thought would end up in the trash, and that’s not where it’s heading," Brown said, "It’s heading to homes that are going to love it, and appreciate it."
Brown said she enjoyed coming from Bentonville to set up shop for a couple days at the Junk Ranch, and said it was hard not to stop by a couple garage sales on the way.
"Anytime you can get outside your local niche area and branch out," Brown said, "And you get on some back roads, you’ll find some amazing stuff…I mean that’s what I love doing in my spare time.”
Ashley Gardner also owns an antique store in Bentonville and said she loved her experience as a vendor at the outdoor venue.
“I think it’s great that we can all network together," Gardner said, "If I don’t have something in my store, I’m sending them to Kim’s store, and my theory is that we are all in this together, we all love old junk.”
Gardner owns Rustic Soul, and said when she was a teenager, she didn't know she would end up owning her own antiquing business.
"I found an old dresser at a garage sale, and my grandmother taught me how to restore and how to paint," Gardner said, "And I was 18 years old...so I've always painted furniture for my home, and it just turned into a business."
The owners of the Junk Ranch said the two-day antique sale was so successful that they have another sale planned for October 3 & 4.
