POCOLA (KFSM) -- A Pocola mother and child are safe after their home went up in flames early Monday morning (Oct. 26).
Pocola Fire Chief Wesley Riggs said the fire started around 2:15 a.m. at a single-story home on South Gray Street. Firefighters from Pocola, Arkoma and Murry Spur were all on scene.
When firefighters arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames and the roof had caved in. The mother and child were not home at the time of the fire.
It took crews about 40 minutes to extinguish the flames. Officials said the home is a total loss.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
