Fayetteville police Tuesday arrested the 11th suspect in a June 14 shooting on Boxley Avenue, according to a preliminary report from the prosecuting attorney’s office.
Brandon Rashaid Conley, 32, of 209 E. 7th St., was arrested on a firearm charge and charges of committing a terroristic act and engaging in violent criminal group activity, the report states.
Prior to Tuesday’s arrest, the most recent arrests in the shooting occurred June 19.
Jeremiah Howard Little, 25, of Fayetteville, and Tony Anthony McDonald, 39, were arrested on that date on charges of hindering apprehension in the shooting.
Their arrests brought the total number of arrests to 10. Conley’s arrest was the 11th, said Sgt. Craig Stout, police spokesman.
Cruz Conley, 23, of Fayetteville, was shot in the arm and torso during the incident. He was later arrested on charges of terroristic threatening and engaging in violent criminal group activity. Bethany Green, 26, Kenyatta Perkins, 33, and Travis Coleman, 41, all of Fayetteville, were also arrested for allegedly hindering apprehension.
Andrew Wilson-Moore, 25, Stephan Perkins, 26, Walter Green 31, and Adrian Smith, 35, were arrested in connection with the incident.
The Conley arrested Tuesday apparently was related to Cruz Conley and is suspected of being one of the people firing a gun during the incident, Stout said.
Officers were called to a residence in the 1200 block of N. Boxley Ave. around 5:15 p.m. on June 14 in reference to shots fired.
Witnesses told police that Green pulled a handgun out during a loud argument with neighbors who he had been in a fight with earlier that day, reports state. Shortly afterward, gunfire was exchanged between Green, Perkins and another neighbor.
There have been four shootings in Fayetteville in the past few weeks.
Sgt. Stout says officers are increasing patrols in those areas and even going door-to-door to speak with residents as a public relations effort.
“We’re obviously looking at what are the contributing factors in these incidents, but we’re trying to deal with the prevention side of it,” Sgt. Stout said.
