FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – A suspect has been named in a murder case involving a homeless man whose body was found on land leased by the University of Arkansas in January, police say.

The case was investigated by the University of Arkansas Police Department.

Bodie Dickson, 40, of Fayetteville was booked into the Washington County Detention Center on Jan. 7 at 1:58 p.m., according to jail records. Those same records also state he faces charges of second-degree murder, parole violation and tampering with physical evidence.

On Jan. 4, the body of David Henry Fox, Jr., 53, was found on land leased by the University of Arkansas. Fox was located in a wooded area near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Razorback Road, south of Indian Trail, according to the University of Arkansas Police Department. Police said the area is a known homeless camp.

Dickson was identified as a suspect not long after the body was found, but he denied involvement in the death and also denied being in a physical altercation with Fox, according to an arrest report.

An autopsy on Fox revealed the victim had been involved in a fight, and that fight ultimately led to his death, the report states.

According to police, Dickson had “blood evidence on his hands and clothing showing [he] had been in close contact with Fox.” The evidence gathered by police showed both Dickson and Fox had a physical altercation, according to the report. Interviews with other witnesses combined with the gathered evidence contradicted statements given by Dickson, police said.

Dickson is being held on a $10,000 bond, and his next hearing is scheduled for Feb. 13 at 7:45 a.m., jail records state.
