WASHINGTON COUNTY (KFSM) — Ozarks Electric Cooperative said they were in the process of doing a system upgrade when a storm rolled in and caused a power outage Sunday (July 1).

The outage map for Ozarks Electric Cooperative showed more than 4,600 customers without power for less than an hour.  By 4 p.m. the outage map showed electricity had been restored.

“In constant efforts to improve system reliability, the Baldwin substation southeast of Fayetteville received a routine upgrade.  That upgrade required a temporary reconfiguration which was disrupted by a storm just after 3 p.m.,” the company stated.

During the outage, the company posted this notice on their Facebook account:

Outage alert: Several thousand member are without power in southeast Fayetteville and surrounding areas. Crews are working to restore power as quickly as possible. This post will be updated when additional information is available.
