CENTERTON (KFSM)- A Rogers School District teacher was arrested Tuesday (June 16) on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia, according to a probable cause affidavit from the Centerton Police Department.

Erick L. Mulkey, 46, was arrested by the Centerton Police Department after officers found a methamphetamine pipe in his vehicle, according to the affidavit.

An officer arrested Mulkey after a district court judge told him his license was suspended and he should not be driving, the affidavit states. The officer followed Mulkey out of court and watched him get into his Ford pickup truck, according to the affidavit. Mulkey was pulled over after he crossed the center line twice, the affidavit states.

Mulkey then got out of his pickup demanding to know why he was being pulled over, according to the affidavit. The officer told him both reasons for the stop and asked for ID, the affidavit states. Mulkey handed the officer a Rogers high school card and said he taught chemistry when the officer asked him if he was a teacher, according to the affidavit.

Benton County Central Communications also confirmed Mulkey had a suspended license out of Rogers District Court, so the officer cited Mulkey for driving on a suspended license, towed his truck and released him from the scene, the affidavit states. Another officer did an inventory of the pickup and found a glass methamphetamine pipe and methamphetamine residue in the glove compartment, according to the affidavit.

An officer located Mulkey in Centerton and arrested him on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia, the affidavit states. Mulkey told the officer it was not his and stated that he was a chemistry teacher, insinuating that it had something to do with the meth pipe, according to the affidavit.

Mulkey was then taken to the Benton County Detention Center and released on bond, officials said.

Erick Mulkey was listed as a science department staff member on the Rogers Heritage High School staff page on Wednesday (June 17) at about 1:30 p.m. (See below.)  By about 6 p.m., his name had been removed. According to the Rogers Public School District, Mulkey is no longer working for the district.
