Sebastian and Crawford Emergency Management are making sure sandbags are available for residents ahead of the upcoming heavy rain and potentially dangerous flooding.

Sandbags and sand are available, but are unfilled, according to county officials. Citizens should bring shovels to fill the sandbags and a vehicle to carry them.

The City of Fayetteville does have a small stockpile of sandbags on hand, but the crews are not planning a major distribution. Transportation Services Director Terry Gulley says the city is only planning to distribute the sandbags to residents facing major flooding problems at their homes. Residents are only asked to contact the City of Fayetteville if their home is threatened by flood water. If you feel your home would qualify as one affected by major flooding please call 479-575-8228.

No sandbag distributions are planned in Bentonville, and the Rogers Street department says the roads are not facing enough flooding to need the sandbags. No sandbag distribution events are planned Tuesday in Benton County.
