Crews responded to a semi-truck that caught fire just off of the interstate in Washington County late Friday afternoon, according to emergency crews.
Photos and video show smoke billowing up from the semi tractor-trailer as a man stands near the fire. Boston Mountain firefighters responded to the scene shortly before 5 p.m., on the Winslow exit just off of Interstate 540.
No ambulances have been sent, and there are no reports of any injuries, according to Central Emergency Medical Services.
Traffic is backed up on the interstate because of the fire.
Robbie Hatfield told 5NEWS he was driving on I-540 when he saw smoke coming up from the semi-truck. He got out of his car and rushed to the scene, where he and a woman helped the driver to safety, Hatfield said.
The driver noticed smoke coming out of his dash board, before pulling over and leaving the semi's cab. Crews extinguished the fire after about one hour, said Tyler McCartney, assistant fire marshal for Washington County.
The exit ramp was closed for about 45 minutes.
