SILOAM SPRINGS (KFSM) — Simmons Feed Ingredients broke ground on a new pet food ingredient facility in Siloam Springs on Tuesday (Dec. 15).
The new 89,125 square foot facility will focus on fresh and frozen meat ingredients, and will provide 78 new jobs, according to a press release.
The facility will be located at 1113 East Ashley Street, and will have an estimated $50 million economic impact on the state, the release states.
Simmons also said in the release that the new pet food ingredient facility will give unprecedented sourcing traceability, so customers will know where their pet food ingredients come from.
Simmons Foods, Inc. & Affiliates, which is the parent company of Simmons Feed Ingredients, produces poultry, pet food and ingredients. The company is based in Siloam Springs and employs more than 1,200 people.
“We’re very thankful for the support from our state and community leaders. They made it possible for us to keep this project local,” said Todd Simmons, CEO of the company.
