The Social Security Administration office in Fort Smith was briefly shut down Tuesday morning after a possible threat was made.
The office on Dallas Street had signs on the door that they delayed opening their doors due to heightened security.
Fort Smith Police and the US Marshals Service said they were aware of a threat but were not called for assistance.
“It was a security issue. We are not going to disclose any additional information other than we take every precaution to ensure the public safety when visiting our offices,” Sarah Schultz-Lackey, Regional Communication Director for the social security office, said in a statement.
Doors opened back up around 11 a.m.
