The National Weather Service in Tulsa has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Rogers Saturday.
The storm uprooted trees, left hundreds without electricity and caused a car to spin, sending two to the hospital with minor injuries in Rogers.
The Benton Country Road Department and the Rogers police and fire departments blocked off about a mile on 52nd Street between Stoney Brook and Horsebarn Road.
Damage includes scattered debris and toppled signs and power lines.
The Aloft Hotel and Holiday Inn also temporarily were without power.
“It’s done quite a bit of property damage here but no major injuries,” said Keith Foster, Rogers Police Department spokesman.
Foster said crews were shutting off electricity and gas in the affected section to clean up the debris before re-opening the road.
Foster said most of the storm damage was concentrated on the west side of the city including 41st and 45th streets and Osage and Dixieland roads.
