SPRINGDALE (KFSM) -- Republican presidential candidate hopeful Ted Cruz paid a visit to Northwest Arkansas Sunday, Feb. 28.

Cross Church released the following statement in response:

"Cross Church is thankful for and welcoming of anyone that wishes to participate in worship and hear a Gospel-focused sermon, thus Cross Church is pleased to welcome Senator Cruz.

Cross Church will not and does not endorse any political candidate for any office. Cross Church endorses the Gospel of Jesus Christ and will continue to focus its resources on reaching Northwest Arkansas, Southwest Missouri, America, and the world for Jesus Christ. Cross Church has a passionate commitment to praying for our state, our nation, and our world, as well as for the individuals that serve and protect our land."

Even though this wasn't a rally, Cruz held a media conference after the service where he focused his attack on front-runner Donald Trump.

"Donald Trump has been supporting liberal Democrats for 40 years," said Cruz. "He supported Jimmy Carter over Ronald Reagan, he supported John Kerry over George W. Bush... He has given money to Hillary Clinton and to Joe Biden."

Cruz went on to call the businessman wrong for Arkansas, and painted himself as a fighter for working men and women.

"A business tycoon that's been hiring illegal aliens that refuses to hire Americans that manufactures his clothing, his ties, his suits, his shirts in China and Mexico, he's not going to fight for the men and women of this country," said Cruz. "I have been every day in the senate."

The Arkansas primary election is March 1.

Cruz is running against Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, John Kasich and Ben Carson for the Republican presidential nomination.
