A Rogers teen in trouble after pulling a Pinterest prank on a police officer. Pinterest, a social media website, used to post things users like or think are funny.
The teen acted out this post, "When I’m bored, I send a text to a random number saying, I hid the body...now what?"
It was no joke to the random recipient.
"Just in the 479 area code, we probably got half a million phone numbers and she just randomly picks the phone number of a Rogers Police Detective," said Keith Foster, Rogers Police Officer.
The detective traced the number to a home in Rogers and that's where police found the 15 year old girl.
"The girl felt really bad about it, mom of course not super happy about the thing, took the phone from the daughter," said Foster.
Police consider it a false alarm, which is a Class A misdemeanor here in the state of Arkansas. However, in this case the teen walked out with a warning.
"It's parents responsibility to step up to the plate and tell your children it's not OK to do things like that," Victoria Carney, Northwest Arkansas resident.
Lisa Warren, a local mom, said, "You've got to smack the hands and say OK you know what you've done wrong but in that case I think that's really serious there could've been a lot of repercussions for that."
Law enforcement also gave teens a take away message.
"Yeah we are police, we have a sense of humor, but for us when it comes to public safety we don't have a sense of humor on something like that," said Foster.
Foster said the punishment for a class A misdemeanor can be up to one year in jail and up to a $1,000 fine.
