A city board member won Tuesday night’s mayoral race in Siloam Springs, as John Mark Turner captured an overwhelming victory.

Turner, the Ward 1 representative on Siloam Spring’s Board of Directors, collected 539 votes, two-thirds of the total. Challenger Ben Jones garnered 22 percent of the turnout, with 172 votes. Eleven percent of voters chose Mark Long, who is an at-large representative for the Board. Long received 90 votes.

The two candidates with the largest share of votes would have squared off for a head-to-head race for mayor, but because Turner collected more than 50 percent of the vote, he won outright, according to the Benton County Election Commission.
