FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) — An Arkansas basketball player and another former player pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges this week related to a forgery investigation from July.
Jacorey Williams, 21, pleaded guilty to possession of an instrument of crime on Tuesday (Dec. 8), and was put on 12 months probation, according to a Washington County circuit clerk.
Dustin Thomas, 19, also pleaded guilty to possession of an instrument of crime on Thursday morning (Dec. 10), court records show. He also received 12 months of probation.
The two, along with another player, Anton Beard, were seen in surveillance footage in July 2015 using counterfeit $20 bills, according to an arrest report. Beard also asked a store clerk to exchange six counterfeit $50 bills for three $100 bills, and the clerk did so according to the report. The suspects were arrested July 22, 2015.
Basketball coach Mike Anderson announced Aug. 19, 2015 that Jacorey Williams would not return to the basketball program. Beard remains indefinitely suspended.
Beard was reinstated to the team and can resume competition as of next Friday (Dec. 18), following a resolution with both legal and campus judicial processes. His case has been referred to the Washington and Madison County Drug Treatment and Diversion Court. Beard will participate in a pre-adjudication program.
Thomas is still indefinitely suspended.
