SPRINGDALE (KFSM) – Tyson Foods, Inc. announced the completion of a merger on Thursday (Aug. 28) with the Hillshire Brands Co., according to a news release.
The merger makes Tyson an even larger leader in the prepared foods business, the release states.
A combination of the two companies creates a single company with more than $40 billion in annual sales and includes brands like Tyson, Jimmy Dean, Ball Park and more, according to the release.
“The integration of the two companies is currently expected to generate synergy savings of $225 million in fiscal 2015 and more than $500 million by fiscal 2017,” the release states.
