WISCONSIN (KFSM) – The USS Little Rock is set to launch in Wisconsin on Saturday (July 18), according to Lockheed Martin.
The launch will take place at Marinette Marine on the Menominee River, which runs into Lake Michigan, according to the ship’s website.
The USS Little Rock is a Littoral Combat Ship, and it will be the ninth in its class, according to Lockheed Martin.
A livestream of the launch will take place so interested viewers can watch the ship meet the water. It will be viewable here.
Launching at 10 a.m., the ship will enter the river broadside, which is done mostly in rivers, lakes and other inland waters.
Lockheed Martin is a global security and aerospace company that works in advanced technology systems, according to its website. The company has more than 100,000 employees.
The ship is sponsored by Janee Bonner, the wife of former Rep. Joe Bonner, R-Alabama, according to Lockheed Martin.
