Emergency crews at about noon on Thursday (May 2) were removing a vehicle stuck in swift-running water near Siloam Springs, said Chief Greg Neely of the Siloam Springs Fire Department.
Neely said a car attempted to cross a low-water spot of the Illinois River north of Highway 412 near Old Highway 68 and Robinson Road, but became stuck Wednesday night.
The vehicle’s owner was trying to move the vehicle when emergency crews arrived this morning. In order to avoid an emergency, Neely says a fire crew towed the vehicle to dry ground.
Initially, emergency crews were dispatched, but a rescue boat was called back after it appeared the situation was under control, Neely said.
