When associates arrived at what is now the Walmart Visitors Center, they did the Walmart chant in different languages.
Twenty-seven flags around the Bentonville Square represented home countries of the associates who are in Northwest Arkansas this week for the annual Shareholders meeting.
“They’re from 27 different countries as far as way as Africa to as nearby as Arkansas,” said Alan Dranow, Heritage and Associates Marketing Senior Director for Walmart Stores.
“I just love hearing people’s stories. What they are up too and just meet new people. That's what I'm here for,” said Dave Barber, associate from the United Kingdom.
“Where else can you meet so many people from so many places in the world in one place amazing really amazing,” added another United Kingdom associate.
Those visiting from the United Kingdom said they were excited to be in Arkansas.
“I can't get over how nice it is and how beautiful the buildings are and everyone is just so fantastic. “
A popular attraction at the Walmart Visitors Center, Sam Walton`s 1979 Ford truck.
“Most of them touch the door handle because urban legend has it if you touch the door handle on Sam's truck you'll receive the gift of frugality. You'll learn how to be frugal and how to save money and live better,” said Dranow.
Festivities throughout the week lead up to the annual Shareholders meeting this Friday which will be at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville.
