SILOAM SPRINGS (KFSM) - City leaders and store officials will celebrate the grand opening of a new Walmart Neighborhood Market today (Sept. 10) in Siloam Springs.
The store is located at the intersection of S. Holly street and Highway 412. Officials say, it will bring up to 95 jobs to the city.
Store Manager Billy Cunningham says the store will provide customers with a different type of selection than they normally would not find at a Walmart Supercenter.
"We want to be more of a convenience for our customers. It's a small format so they can get in and out quicker. If there's something that they are needing online and they want to order, they don't have to go to the super center, they can ship it here to the store, " said Cunningham, "So getting those kinds of services out there because it's the first one in Siloam here so we want to education our customers on those kind of things."
Cunningham started with the company 14 years ago as a cart pusher and slowly moved his way up. He says he encourages his new employees to explore job opportunities within Walmart.
"Whether it`s inside the store or at a D.C. or home office position, they can go anywhere from real-estate to logistics, to operations, " said Cunningham, "There are so many different areas that offer opportunities there. So, that's one of the things that we talked about when we do new hire orientation with our new associates because the impossibilities that are there for them if they choose to."
The new store will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 7:30 a.m., afterwards Walmart will present $6,000 in grants to local community groups.
