Van Buren Police Detective Jonathan Wear said a 24-year-old woman was arrested for attempted murder Saturday after she pulled the trigger on a handgun, and instead of firing, the handgun jammed.
Aleesha McFarland was arrested around 9 p.m. at the 1200 block of Ozier Street.
Police said they first talked with the victim, who said he had been shot at, by a women who lives just a block away.
Det. Wear said when McFarland pulled the trigger of the .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun, the gun jammed, and the victim was not struck by the single round.
Officers working the scene found the gun in the grass. McFarland was arrested for attempted 2nd degree murder and was booked into the Crawford County Detention Center with no bond.
