SPRINGDALE, Ark. — 5NEWS employees will be collecting back-to-school supplies at the Walmart on S. Pleasant Street on Friday, July 26 from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, July 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Springdale School District is the largest school district in Northwest Arkansas. All supplies collected at this location will go to the district.
Damon Donnell, the director of student services with the district, said that school supplies are essential to ensure every student has the tools they need to success academically.
"Many families in our community face financial challenges, and providing school supplies helps to alleviate some of this burden, allowing students to focus on their education without worrying about lacking necessary materials," Donnell said.
Donnell explained how donations of school supplies create an equitable learning environment where all students, regardless of their financial situation, have access to the resources they need.
"It would also foster a sense of community support and show the students that their education is valued by others. Ultimately, these contributions can significantly enhance the learning experience and boost the confidence and academic performance of our students."
