ROGERS, Ark. — Families in Arkansas affected by recent tornadoes urgently need support, and you've been asking 5NEWS how you can help.
5NEWS partnered with the American Red Cross to host the 5CARES Tornado Relief Drive, a donation event benefiting families in Northwest Arkansas impacted by the tornadoes that ripped through the area on Sunday, May 26.
The in-person collection drive was hosted outside Arvest Bank in Rogers on Friday, May 31.
As of 6:30 p.m. on May 31, 5CARES raised $51,833.
While the in-person drive is over, the link above will be active for another week, and we are still accepting online donations.
The primary focus of the drive is providing immediate needs to those impacted by the overnight tornadoes and storms on May 26. Red Cross says this includes using donations to provide those families with shelter, food and water, and emotional support.
Red Cross and other organizations have set up respite centers to work to provide a safe place to go throughout the day while thousands are without power or homes completely damaged by the storms.
Delta Dental of Arkansas is our donation matching partner and matching a portion of donations raised on Friday.
