ARKANSAS, USA — Ozark Regional Transit (ORT) announced it has received a $14.9 million grant to install electrical vehicle charging infrastructure in Northwest Arkansas.

The grant was provided by the U.S. Department of Transportation to construct EV infrastructure "at up to 17 sites" in Rogers, Bentonville, Fayetteville and Springdale, according to the release. The proposed sites are near bike trails and activity centers to offer more transportation options for locals.

Each site will have four to eight charging stations for a total of up to 92 charging ports throughout Northwest Arkansas.

ORT said this will increase the number of EV charging ports throughout the region by 58%.

There will be spaces for additional ports to be installed in the future, ORT said.

Construction for this project is expected to start in 2026 and be completed by the summer.
