Pedestrian gets hit by vehicle in Springdale

Officials say the driver stated he struck a man "who ran across the street in front of him."

SPRINGDALE, Ark. — A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on Sunday, Nov. 5 in Springdale, according to a press release.

The Springdale Police Department (SPD) says the incident took place in the area of Old Missouri Road and Huntsville Avenue at around 9:50 p.m.

Officials say the driver stated he struck a man "who ran across the street in front of him."

SPD responded to the scene where they said they found a 49-year-old man lying in the "eastbound lane of traffic on Huntsville." Though he was taken to a local hospital, police say the man did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

SPD says "driver impairment" does not appear to be a factor in the crash, but are still investigating.  Officials say no charges are expected to be pressed against the driver.
