ROGERS, Ark. — Planned Parenthood Great Plains in Rogers announced it will be offering a free or low-cost vasectomy clinic on April 13.
This will be a one-day event that will be held at the Rogers Health Center located at 1222 W. Poplar Street. Planned Parenthood said the purpose of this clinic is to "expand access to essential reproductive health care services including a highly-effective, permanent form of contraception.
What is a vasectomy?
How does it work?
Planned Parenthood assures this is a quick and simple procedure where you can go home on the same day. "The small tubes in your scrotum that carry sperm are cut or blocked off, so sperm can’t leave your body and cause pregnancy," said Planned Parenthood.
The procedure is permanent and non-reversible. It has a "greater than 99% effectiveness rate," according to Planned Parenthood. Patients will have a consultation with a provider ahead of the procedure.
How much will it cost?
According to Planned Parenthood, vasectomy procedures will be free to "those who qualify" or $250 for nonqualifying patients. These procedures normally cost anywhere from $750-$1000.
Dr. Joshua Yap, Director of Vasectomy Care said this is clinic will help bring options to the community.
“This one-day clinic brings a crucial family planning option to Rogers, ensuring that anyone can make informed decisions about contraception, reducing the risk of unintended pregnancies.”
