SPRINGDALE, Ark. — A five-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a car near Grainger Circle and Apache Trail on the evening of July 2, according to the Springdale Police Department (SPD).
Police said the boy was outside with his family when a dog ran into the road. "The child chased after the dog when he was struck," SPD said.
The child reportedly died on the scene.

The driver stopped after the crash, showed no signs of impairment, and cooperated with police, SPD said.
The crash is still under investigation but police say no charges are expected to be brought following the child's death.
