Police say the investigation is still in its early stages and more information will be released when available and appropriate.

FORT SMITH, Ark. — The Fort Smith Police Department responded to Harry E. Kelley River Park on Sunday, Feb. 26, where a body was recovered from the Arkansas River.

On Monday, FSPD identified the body as 43-year-old Jose Molina-Portillo. Police say there are no immediate signs of foul play at this time.

The investigation is still in its early stages, the department said, and more information will be released when "available and appropriate."

Portillo has been sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner to determine a cause and manner of death, FSPD said.
