FORT SMITH, Ark. — A child involved in a vehicle-pedestrian crash in Fort Smith has died.
According to the Fort Smith Police Department (FSPD), the incident occurred on Kelley Highway at around 5:04 p.m.
FSPD said that a 13-year-old boy was walking when he was hit by a car, where he died on the scene.
Police said that officers and other first responders were on the scene as soon as three minutes after the crash. As of 7:30 p.m. crash reconstruction and investigation are still underway.
FSPD confirmed to 5NEWS that the car remained on the scene but that no information on the driver will be released at this time.
FSPD advised that Kelley will be closed from North Albert Pike Avenue to 50th Street until the scene is clear and to consider alternate routes.
