WISTER, Okla. — A Poteau man died after crashing his motorcycle in Wister on Sept. 21 around 9:30 p.m., according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP).
Stacy Raines, 53, was traveling northbound on Old Wister Highway when he departed the roadway, struck a culvert, and drove through a ditch for around 164 feet before stopping.
Raines was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
OHP said the reason why Raines departed the roadway is unknown. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
According to OHP, Raines was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
