POTEAU, Okla — The Poteau Police Department (PPD) unveiled its Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) patrol car on Wednesday, Oct. 9, featuring five Special Olympic athletes.

This is part of a collaboration with PPD, Special Olympics Oklahoma and Oklahoma LETR.

The patrol car will be driven by Sergeant Gary Hecht, who has "been a dedicated supporter of both Poteau's local Special Olympic athletes and Special Olympics Oklahoma," according to PPD.

PPD says Sgt. Hecht has raised the most funds for the Special Olympics annual Polar Plunge. His family has also invested their time to "ensure the success and well-being of the athletes," the release said.

"His efforts have made a lasting impact on the lives of these remarkable individuals," PPD said.

An unveiling ceremony was held at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center, honoring his dedication and celebrating the athletes who have touched his heart.
