Over 500 people without power in Benton County as inclement weather approaches

According to poweroutage.us, Carroll Electric Cooperative and Southwestern Electric Power Co. are the companies with the highest number of affected customers.

BENTON COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Ark. — A power outage is impacting over 500 customers in Benton County as inclement weather approaches the morning of Jan. 12.

According to poweroutage.us, Carroll Electric Cooperative and Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO) are the companies with the highest number of affected customers.

A total of 17 customers reported outages for SWEPCO and 491 for Carroll Electric Cooperative. SWEPCO said the power outages were caused due to inclement weather in its service area. The severity of the winter weather caused a large tree to fall on one of SWEPCO's main lines near Pea Ridge Thursday night, SWEPCO said. This happened at around 11:30 p.m.

SWEPCO said despite its crews working all night to restore the power, the weather impact has made it more difficult. SWEPCO estimates the power will be restored by 10:30 a.m. 5NEWS is currently working to learn more about the outages from other companies.
