Power restored in Washington County after thousands were left without power

Ozark Electric initially reported 4,159 people experiencing outages at 11:30 a.m.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Ark. — Thousands of Ozarks Electric Cooperative customers were without power on Tuesday, July 2, according to the power outage map.

A spokesperson with Ozarks Electric said the widespread outage was caused by a dump truck hitting a power pole at the Eco Vista Landfill in Tontitown.

As of 11:30 a.m., Ozarks Electric's website outage map reported over 4,000 Washington County customers without power.

The incident caused issues with a substation in Tontitown and impacted a larger area, officials said.

Crews responded to the scene, and power was restored at 12:45 p.m.
