Vian man pleads guilty to assault by strangulation

SEQUOYAH COUNTY, Okla. — An Oklahoma man has pleaded guilty to assault of an intimate partner by strangulation, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

40-year-old Lucas James Blackbird of Vian committed the crime on Feb. 19, the release said. The crime took place in Sequoyah County within the Cherokee Nation Reservation. 

Blackbird will be in the custody of the U.S. Marshal Service while awaiting sentencing.
