'The nursery was untouched' | Expecting Bella Vista couple pick up the pieces after severe storms destroy their home

"I don't know what there is in the house that is salvageable because everything is wet," Hunter Wright said.

BELLA VISTA, Ark. — A Bella Vista family is picking up the pieces after Friday night's storms ripped through Arkansas. Thankfully, the Wright family was not home at the time of the damage, but their dogs were trapped.

"When we got home, you know, in the dark, you couldn't really see how bad it was. You go through the garage in the house, it honestly looks fine until you get to the back half," Hunter Wright said. "The dogs were actually trapped behind where the tree had fallen and they had run back into the master bathroom."

Fortunately, all of their pets survived. Hunter said the master bedroom is a total loss. He said he's lucky he and his wife weren't in their bedroom, especially because they're expecting their first child in October.

"If we'd been in the bed, there's no telling how bad it would have been," he said. "The master bedroom is gone ... There were two trees actually in the back that fell. The first one took out the deck and landed on the back of the house, and it looks like that's the one that came through the living room. And then this second tree fell in the bedroom."

Instead of setting up a nursery, now the Wrights are looking to rebuild.

"We were planning on building our nursery tomorrow, but I guess we got to rebuild the house first," he said.

For the Wright family, Saturday consisted of cleaning up and getting what they could out of the house.

"The nursery was untouched. Thank God," he said. "We had a baby shower last week. We got all the stuff in the baby shower out, and now the restoration company's coming. I don't know what there is in the house that is salvageable because everything's wet."
