MADISON COUNTY, Ark. — Deputies with the Madison County Sheriff's Office found human remains during a missing persons investigation.

In an announcement on social media, MCSO said the remains were found on Sept. 9 in the Kingston area.

"The scene was processed, and the body was released to the Madison County Coroner's Office," MCSO said.

The remains were then transferred to the state crime lab to be identified and determine the cause of death.

MCSO said they've contacted Arkansas State Police to assist in the investigation. The sheriff's office also said the remains aren't connected to an ongoing unsolved missing persons case. "There is no connection to the Jason Lierl case."
