Springdale Police Chief announces 2025 retirement at city council meeting

Gamble began his career with Springdale Police Department in 1998, according to the department. He became Police Chief in 2022.

SPRINGDALE, Ark. — Springdale Police Chief Frank Gamble announced on Tuesday that he will be retiring in 2025.

During a City Council meeting on July 23, Gamble told the council that he would be stepping down from his role at the end of March.

“I wanted to let the council know and make them aware I have notified the mayor of my intent to retire at the end of March," Gamble told the council. “I wanted to give [the mayor] plenty of time to find my replacement. I think we have capable people within the department, but it ultimately is up to the mayor.”

Gamble also used the moment to thank the council for the role.

“I want to thank everyone for my opportunity, for my career in the Springdale Police Department," Gamble said, adding that he's "not going anywhere."

"I love Springdale and I have no plans to go anywhere else," Gamble said.

Gamble began his career with Springdale Police Department in August 1998, according to the department. He worked in patrol and investigations before being promoted to sergeant in September 2007.

Gamble continued to climb the ranks, eventually being promoted to Assistant Chief in August 2021. He became Chief of Police in February 2022, replacing former Chief Mike Peters.
