SPRINGDALE, Ark. — The Springdale Public Library has been awarded a grant by the Arkansas Arts Council that will support its effort to address mental health in children.

The grant will support the library's Emotions Snapshots Program, which uses photography to help children develop emotional intelligence and resilience.

The program is six weeks long and designed for children in 4th-7th grade.

"Encouraging participants to connect with their peers and the world around them. By capturing moments of kindness, gratitude, and everyday beauty, students will learn to see their environment—and themselves—through a more positive and reflective perspective," said the Springdale Public Library.

On Nov. 6, the library will host a public art exhibition featuring the children's photographs.

There are only 25 spots available for the program. Cameras are provided, and registration starts on Sept. 18. For more registration information, click here.
