Benton County deploys debris pickup trucks to unincorporated communities

According to the City of Rogers, crews have removed over 341,000 cubic yards of debris as of June 14.

BENTON COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Ark. — Benton County and its cities have been hard at work trying to clean up the damage that severe storms left over Memorial Day weekend.

According to the City of Rogers, crews have removed over 341,000 cubic yards of debris as of June 14.

Over the weekend, the City of Bentonville said almost 25,000 cubic yards of vegetative debris were collected between June 15 and 16.

"Debris removal trucks are picking up in all four city wards for the next several weeks," Bentonville said.

Following the weekend, Benton County announced they are now picking up debris for those living in unincorporated communities starting June 17.

The county has contracted Looks Great Services to pickup vegetative debris and construction and demolition (C&D) debris for all Benton County cities.

"We will begin debris removal in the hardest-hit areas of Benton County," the county said.

Residents are asked to make separate piles for vegetative and C&D debris. Do not bag debris.

  • Vegetative items
    • Rootballs
    • Whole trees
    • Tree stumps
    • Tree branches
    • Tree trunks
    • Other leafy material
  • C&D items
    • Lumber
    • Wallboard
    • Glass
    • Metal
    • Roofing materials
    • Tile
    • Furnishing
    • Fixtures

When placing items on the curb, do not block the roadway, utilities, or driveway. Keep any piles at least four feet away from mailboxes, water meters, fire hydrants, utilities, drainage, and street signs. Do not place anything near low-hanging powerlines.

Right now, only debris placed on the "public right-of-way" will be eligible for pickup.

"If all debris is not picked up during the initial pass, please continue to push the remaining debris to the right-of-way for subsequent passes," the county said.

According to the county, private citizens are allowed to burn organic debris on their own property. Even though you will not need a permit to burn, you must inform the county before burning by calling (479) 271-1005.

These burns do not include any non-vegetative debris, including C&D, household waste, tires, lumber, or trade waste.

Bentonville

Although Looks Great Services is picking up debris across the city, Bentonville residents still have the option to drop off the debris at a compost facility at 2000 NW A St.

Starting June 17, here are their hours of operation:

  • Monday-Friday: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Saturday: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday: Closed

To use the facility, you must provide an ID or a City of Bentonville utility bill to prove your residency.

Rogers

Looks Great Services is operating around 50 trucks in Rogers. According to the city, each truckload carries about 150 cubic yards of debris, dumping a load approximately every two minutes.

Two waste drop-off sites are available to residents at 2300 N Arkansas St. and 3101 W Oak St. Each site is open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
