Suspect in custody after stealing bus in North Little Rock, police say

Arkansas State Police confirmed that one suspect is in custody after allegedly stealing a bus in North Little Rock.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Arkansas State Police arrested a Lonoke County man Thursday morning in a North Little Rock rail yard after he stole a motorcoach bus and led state troopers on a pursuit.

ASP said the man, later identified as 29-year-old Elvin Richard, stole the bus in Little Rock around 3 a.m. and attempted to evade troopers around 7:40 a.m. on Interstate 40 east before turning onto Highway 161 and driving onto railroad tracks.

According to authorities, troopers disabled the bus by shooting its tires, and Richard was taken into custody.

Richard was then taken to the Pulaski County Detention Center.

Officials said no one was injured during the incident.
