"We are a vibrant community of students, staff, and faculty dedicated to celebrating the rich Hispanic culture and its contributions," said the committe.

This year, the committee has bigger plans to make this happen. On this year's Day of Giving, the committee raised more than $5,000 that will go towards its new goals.

UAFS released its plans to have a student intern earn a scholarship as they assist in organizing Hispanic Heritage Month festivities and provide "mini scholarships" to Hispanic students.

The university's annual "Salsa at the Bell Tower" Hispanic Heritage event has grown in popularity over the years, and it now has to increase the budget. The university states that its regular attendance is over 500 people. Some of the money raised this year will also go towards funding this event in September.

When the fundraising closed, Embracing Hispanic Heritage came in second place with 105 donors, after First Generation Student Initiative, which had 186.
