War Memorial Stadium working to resolve last year's issues ahead of Hogs football season opener

War Memorial Stadium staff are focused on fixing last year’s water, concessions, and ticket issues ahead of Arkansas’s 2024 season opener against UAPB on August 29.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — In a little over a week, fans will head to War Memorial Stadium for the Razorback season-opener vs. UAPB.

Last year, fans expressed concerns over issues they faced at War Memorial such as a lack of water and ticket problems. This year, War Memorial officials have taken people's suggestions into account and have worked to make positive changes.

They're doing all this to make sure that those same issues won't be present during this year's event.

"We've increased the amount of ticket scanners that we have this year. We're going to have 60. So that should help with getting more fans in and out much quicker," said Jon Latch, War Memorial Stadium Manager.

To help keep people cool, the stadium will feature newly installed 18-foot diameter fans on each side of the stadium to push cold air throughout the inside of the stadium. Each concession stand will also have fans and water available to keep people hydrated.

"In previous years, fans would, if they get hot in the stands, come down to the concourse to cool off. And that's not necessarily the best place to be, because the air didn't move very well. It was just stagnant air, really hot. So these fans, at least help move air, which is beneficial," Latch explained.

Guests will be able to access free water at the 'water monster' stations throughout the concourse. They will also be able to bring in empty water bottles to help stay hydrated.

Learning from last year's game, staff at War Memorial are excited to have fans back in Little Rock to provide positive changes that fans will enjoy.

"It's a big game for us, and it's really important to us. We want to encourage our fans to come out this year and enjoy the game and have a great, wonderful experience. Continue those War Memorial great memories," Latch said.

Here's a list below of a few additional pointers you should know ahead of the game on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 6:30 p.m.:
