Wildfire in Delaware County burned nearly 350 acres, official says

Oklahoma Forestry Services responded to a wildfire in McCurtain County on Oct. 28. This was one of the 18 fires they responded to on Monday.

DELAWARE COUNTY, Oklahoma — A wildfire in Delaware County, Oklahoma burned around 350 acres on Oct. 28, according to Kansas Fire Department Chief Jason Martin. 

The fire reportedly began between Colcord and Kansas, Oklahoma, near Highway 59 around 12:45 p.m. Martin said the fire did not cross over the state line into Arkansas. 

Oklahoma Forestry Services (OFS) was still at the scene at around 10:45 p.m. According to OFS, they responded to at least 18 fires on Monday. 

"Fire departments across Oklahoma have been hard at work today battling wildfire," OFS said. 

On Monday, OFS also responded to a fire in LeFlore County that burned around 219 acres and a fire in McCurtain County that burned 584 acres. 

A Thursday morning report showed that the Delaware County fire was 75% contained.
