Wings and Wheels lined up at Fayetteville's Drake Field

Hot Rods, JDMs, and other unique motors lined up to support the Arkansas Air and Military Museum.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Both air and ground motors were displayed at Drake Field for the Wings & Wheels event.

The car show and fly-in were hosted by the Arkansas Air and Military Museum and Pinky's Hot Rod Events.

Pinky's hosts car shows in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri being based out of Siloam Springs. Pinky's organizer Brian Lawson said 120 cars were pre-registered but that he could expect up to 300 at the end of the day.

"You can just walk around and talk to people, we have got some super, super rare one-of-one cars here. And it is awesome. I'm very happy with how it's turning," Lawson said.

Enthusiasts competed at the airport with the Fayetteville hills surrounding them. Drivers rolled in with Ford hot rods, Chevrolet Muscles, JDM Vehicles, and much more. They'd be competing for a $1,500 prize and trophies made by the Greenland FFA.

"You have pride in those cars. So when you have pride, you also have competition. And then sometimes they can get a little bit you know, fired up here and there. But at the end of the day, what we want is, it's just a big party, we're here to have fun," Lawson said.

"It's just a great event to have. I guess people ought to know about the museum kind of gives us some visibility on certain projects we're working on, along with it's just kind of a fun event to have in an airport," Museum Director Laci Prince said.

A Hot Wheels swap meet, chicken lunch, and other vendors were available for visitors. All the proceeds from the event went to support the Arkansas Air and Military Museum.
