72-year-old woman dies after crash in LeFlore County

LE FLORE COUNTY, Okla. — According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), a 72-year-old woman lost her life in a single-vehicle crash in LeFlore County on Wednesday, Sept. 25. 

The woman was identified as Linda Ward of Muse, Oklahoma.

What happened?

According to the OHP report, the woman was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic southbound on US-259 at around 6 p.m.

The report states the vehicle the left the roadway, "traveled through a ditch and struck a tree." It is unknown why this happened, but officials are still investigating the cause.

Ward was pronounced dead at the scene, according to OHP.
