LAVACA, Ark. — Charles Desern, a man from Lavaca, is walking into the spring season with a little extra pep in his step after winning over $10,000 from a lottery ticket purchased at an E-Z Mart on West Main Street.
According to a statement from the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL), Desern showed up at the gas station to get his usual "three and one" (three cigars and a lottery ticket).
Desern reportedly didn't realize exactly how much he won until a few seconds after looking at the ticket when it "dawned on him" and he "thanked the lord he let me win this time."
Desern and his wife plan to get a few necessities with the money, including a collar for their cat and a "bacon cheeseburger with fries!" But beyond that, they're planning to save the rest.
